The Waiting Bedouins – (Desert Dwellers)
A Dream of Cornelius Brouwer
I received this dream about 9 years ago, and because I had only a limited understanding of it, I put it on the shelf to wait on God for a deeper understanding (revelation from the Lord). At the end I will explain the first and then second revelation of the dream the Lord has given me, but first the dream.
The dream opened up with an aerial view of a flat – barren – semi desert like, waste land, totally devoid of buildings, trees, roads or any sign of life – NOTHING.
Then all of a sudden a crater started to appear on the ground, just like one you would see if a comet had hit the ground, a hole with built up sides, with cracks extending outward around about it.
The view then descended down into the crater, revealing a large crowd of people, who seemed to be listening intently to a central figure speaking to them. The appearance of the crowd was as though they had been there for an indefinite period of time, they were dirty and their clothes were shabby and basic not extravagant, in fact they looked like Bedouins, who had gone through much to get to this place, none looking any better off than the other. It was obvious that they had come to listen to this man and perhaps others.
While they were listening, they didn’t noticed there was a flood of water coming into the crater via the cracks, which were leading into it. I had believed they were all going to die as the sides of the crater were steep and slippery. But a voice from “I do not know where,” called out and they then could see the flood of water coming in.
The person who was speaking rebuked the water and it immediately reversed course back up the crater walls along the cracks into the ground where it came, like a movie clip played backwards, End of dream.
First understanding (revelation) of the dream
1 People unseen by other – but I felt this was not because they did not want to be seen but because others didn’t want to see them, or they were not allowed to show themselves openly.
2 All gathered of one accord – they had all come to the same place to hear about God although they all knew Him or of Him.
3 Speaker had supernatural authority – yet he showed no difference between himself and his listeners perhaps anyone of them could have spoken.
4 The dream was about – a) where they were
b) who they were
c) why they were there
d) what happened to them before and after
e) what they did about it.
f) the rest of their actions
A – D were not clear to me till about three days ago when my wife was explaining what the group were studying with Steve about ‘the gathering.’ When she said ‘gathering’ something clicked and my mind was focused on the dream. For 2 days I could not get it out of my mind resulting in a further revealing now 9 years later.
Second understanding of dream
While writing this part I was moved to seek a deeper meaning of some words, which I have put in bold lettering within the dream story
Points to the second revelation –
1 Ariel view – From God’s viewpoint
2 Landscape – Desert – wilderness, appears lifeless
3 People cant be seen – Yet are there
4 People found in bad condition yet are content with their position and focused awaiting further instruction “intently”
5 Nothing stoped them from coming shown by their condition
6 Intense love for the Word of God
7 Shared authority – as speaker was no different than the rest.
8 Satan’s further attack – the flood of water
9 Unknown source of voice – God’s warning
10 Satan has to flee – immediately
11 Satan can’t hurt or stop them
When looking into the Etomology (original meaning of these words) we can see deeper insight to the meaning of the dream.
Crater – 1 bowel shaped depression around the orifice of a volcano (inside the hot seat of contention),
2 eroded lesions - my people are in a sore, painful spot
Intently - 1 directed with strained or eager attention
2 having the mind attention or will concentrated on something or some end or purpose (people came to hear about God totally focused seeing nothing else except God’s end and purpose)
Shabby - 1 they were clothed with worn seedy garments (dressed in false or not quite complete teachings)
2 Threadbare and faded from ware – what they did have, has been attacked, torn and is fading away
3 Ill kept – lack of attention to the Word of God
4 To feel shabby because of compromise.
